In this connection, the Commission's Inter-sessional Ad Hoc Working Group, meeting in New York from 28 February to 3 March 2000, reviewed progress achieved in the implementation of the objectives for " Promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development " as set out in chapter 14 of Agenda 21.

The present report reviews progress made in the implementation of the objectives set out in chapter 14 of Agenda 21 (Promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development),1 taking into account the decisions taken by the Commission on Sustainable Development on that subject at its third session, in 1995.
