2. The Chairman said that, although more than US$4 billion in aid had been pledged at the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Economy for the Reconstruction of Gaza held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on 2 March 2009, for the following two years, the money could not yet be put to work owing to the continued closure of the Territory by the occupying Power.
