The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held its reconvened sixteenth session in Vienna on 29 and 30 November 2007.

At its reconvened sixteenth session, the Commission is expected to review and approve the budget for the biennium 2008-2009 for the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Fund.

The attention of the Economic and Social Council is drawn to the following resolution adopted by the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its reconvened sixteenth session and to the action taken pursuant to General Assembly resolution 61/252 of 22 December 2006, in section XI of which the Assembly authorized the Commission to approve the programme budget for the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Fund:
