The data indicate that there are considerable differences between the regions of Iraq in the incidence of physical violence by the husband. Thus in Kurdistan Region, the number of women subjected to physical violence was half that in other regions. In rural regions, 23 per cent more women suffered than in urban regions.
وتشير البيانات أن هناك اختلافات كبيرة بين مناطق العراق في نسبة ممارسة الزوج للعنف الجسدي، ففي منطقة كردستان تتعرض النساء للعنف الجسدي أقل بنصف ما تتعرض له نساء باقي المناطق، وفي المناطق الريفية تعاني المرأة بنسبة 23 في المائة أكثر من نساء المناطق الحضرية.

The inhabitants of the regions of Iraq bordering on Iran were repeatedly attacked by Iranian forces. Their villages, homes and farms were subjected to constant Iranian aerial and artillery shelling in addition to direct military operations as a result of which many citizens were killed or wounded, while others fled and went missing and their property was destroyed.

(d) The Close Protection Unit (Baghdad) provides effective, efficient and professional personal protective security services to all personnel of the United Nations, specialized agencies, funds and programmes in order to ensure their personal security and safety, and to secure their working environment in all regions of Iraq, Jordan and Kuwait.
(د) تكفل وحدة الحماية اللصيقة (بغداد) الخدمات الأمنية الوقائية الشخصية على نحو يتسم بالفعالية والكفاءة والقدرة المهنية لجميع موظفي الأمم المتحدة ووكالاتها المتخصصة وصناديقها وبرامجها، من أجل ضمان أمنهم الشخصي وسلامتهم، وتأمين بيئة العمل في جميع مناطق العراق والأردن والكويت.

With reference to the agenda of the substantive session of the Economic and Social Council for 2009, I have the honour to request the inclusion of a sub-item entitled " Rehabilitation of the marshes in the southern regions of Iraq " under agenda item 13 (a), entitled " Economic and environmental questions: sustainable development " (see annex).
بالإشارة إلى جدول أعمال الدورة الموضوعية للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي لعام 2009، أتشرف بأن أطلب إدراج بند فرعي معنون " إصلاح الأهوار في مناطق العراق الجنوبية " تحت بند جدول الأعمال 13 (أ) المعنون " المسائل الاقتصادية والبيئية: التنمية المستدامة " (انظر المرفق).

The Economic and Social Council decides to include in the provisional agenda of the substantive session of 2009 of the Economic and Social Council, under agenda item 13 (a), entitled " Economic and environmental questions: sustainable development " , a supplementary sub-item entitled " Rehabilitation of the marshes in the southern regions of Iraq " .

At its 7th meeting, on 18 May, the Council decided to include in the provisional agenda of its substantive session of 2009, under agenda item 13 (a), entitled " Economic and environmental questions: sustainable development " , a supplementary sub-item entitled " Rehabilitation of the marshes in the southern regions of Iraq " .
21 - في الجلسة السابعة المعقودة في 18 أيار/مايو، قرر المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي أن يدرج في جدول الأعمال المؤقت لدورته الموضوعية لعام 2009، بندا فرعيا تكميليا بعنوان " إصلاح الأهوار في مناطق العراق الجنوبية " ، وذلك في إطار البند 13 (أ) من جدول الأعمال المعنون " المسائل الاقتصادية والبيئية: التنمية المستدامة " .

The resolution also provided for appropriate United Nations monitoring and supervision for the purpose of assuring the equitable distribution of the essential civilian supplies to meet humanitarian needs in all regions of Iraq and to all categories of the Iraqi civilian population.
ونص القرار أيضا على أن تضطلع اﻷمم المتحدة بأعمال الرصد واﻹشراف الملائمة من أجل ضمان التوزيع المنصف لﻹمدادات المدنية اﻷساسية لتلبية الاحتياجات اﻹنسانية في جميع المناطق العراقية وعلى جميع فئات السكان المدنيين العراقيين.

Accordingly, existing nurseries specializing in fruit tree production must be rehabilitated and new ones established, distributed throughout most regions of Iraq, as a means of restoring fruit production in areas where it has been destroyed and expanding it elsewhere, using selected stocks and varieties that have been certified by qualified experts.
لذلك كان لا بد من إعادة تأهيل المشاتل القائمة وإقامة مشاتل جديدة متخصصة موزعة في أغلب المناطق العراقية لإعادة تشجير المناطق التي دمرت وللتوسع في التشجير المثمر واختيار الأنواع والأصناف المعتمدة من قِبل الأخصائيين.
