٣١ - وفي القرار ٥٣/٢٢١، طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى اﻷمين العام أن يتوقف، عن الممارسة التي درج فيها على تبيان تمثيل الموظفين حسب مجموعات جغرافية رئيسية، وأن يدرج البلدان حسب الترتيب اﻷبجدي.

It may be noted, as a point of departure, that the General Assembly, in part IX, paragraph 4, of its resolution 53/221 of 7 April 1999, requested the Secretary-General, " when submitting future reports on the composition of the Secretariat, to discontinue the established practice of showing the representation of staff according to major geographical groupings ... and to list countries in alphabetical order " .
2 - وجدير بالملاحظة، كنقطة انطلاق، أن الجمعية العامة طلبت إلى الأمين العام في الفقرة 4 من الجزء التاسع من القرار 53/221 المؤرخ 7 نيسان/أبريل 1999 " أن يتوقف، لدى تقديمه تقارير مقبلة عن تكوين الأمانة العامة، عن الممارسة التي درج فيها على تبيان تمثيل الموظفين حسب مجموعات جغرافية رئيسية ... وأن يدرج البلدان حسب الترتيب الأبجدي " .

30. Mr. Nakkari (Syrian Arab Republic) expressed satisfaction that, in conformity with paragraph 4 of section IX of resolution 53/221, the practice of showing representation of staff according to major geographical groupings in the report on the composition of the Secretariat had been discontinued.
