6. Notwithstanding these measures, the Unit has come to the conclusion that if it is to fulfil its mandate and meet the needs of the participating organizations more effectively, further improvements must be brought to its functioning and changes enacted in the near future, some of which might require amendments to its statute.

9. Should the COP proceed to unify these two treaty bodies in a manner that results in either of them losing its separate and distinct legal identity or ceasing to exist, this may cause legal uncertainty with regard to the legal status of these two treaty bodies, and may require amendments to the Convention in accordance with article 30, which would take time to negotiate and enter into force.
9- وإذا سار مؤتمر الأطراف في طريق توحيد هاتين الهيئتين التعاهديتين بطريقة تؤدي إلى اختفاء الهوية القانونية المنفصلة والمتمايزة لإحداهما أو توقفها عن الوجود فإن ذلك قد يُثير شكاً قانونياً في صدد الوضع الجديد وقد يتطلب تعديلات في الاتفاقية وفقاً للمادة 30، وهو أمر يتطلب وقتاً للتفاوض حوله ودخوله حيز التنفيذ.

16. Should the COP decide to follow the proposal to merge the secretariat and the Global Mechanism, and to transpose and rename the Global Mechanism, with the result that the Global Mechanism lose its separate and distinct legal identity under the Convention, this may require amendments to the Convention in accordance with article 30, which would take time to negotiate and enter into force.
16- وإذا قرر مؤتمر الأطراف أن يتبع اقتراح إدماج الأمانة والآلية العالمية ونقل وإعادة تسمية الآلية العالمية، وهو ما يؤدي إلى أن تفقد الآلية العالمية هويتها القانونية المنفصلة والمتمايزة بموجب الاتفاقية، فإن ذلك قد يتطلب تعديلات في الاتفاقية وفقاً للمادة 30، وهو ما يتطلب وقتاً للتفاوض حوله ودخوله حيز التنفيذ.
