The country has suffered serious setbacks due to the combined effects of the food crisis, the global financial and economic crisis and the devastating impact of the 2008 hurricane season, which has had an adverse effect on the socio-economic situation, undermining the sustainability of security in Haiti.

6. The Commission on Human Rights welcomes the establishment of the National Commission on Disarmament as an important contribution to the longterm restoration of security in Haiti, and takes note of the resolve of the Haitian transitional authorities to initiate the process of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration.

Also requests the SecretaryGeneral to include in his reports a comprehensive assessment of threats to security in Haiti and give particular attention to the protective environment for all, in particular women and children, and progress in the sustainable resettlement of displaced persons, and to propose, as appropriate, options to reconfigure the composition of the Mission;
24 - يطلب أيضا إلى الأمين العام أن يدرج في تقاريره تقييما شاملا للأخطار التي تهدد الأمن في هايتي وأن يولي اهتماما خاصا لتهيئة بيئة توفر الحماية للجميع، وبخاصة النساء والأطفال، ولإحراز التقدم في إعادة توطين المشردين على نحو مستدام، وأن يقترح، حسب الاقتضاء، خيارات لإعادة تشكيل البعثة؛
