43. Important progress has been made in increasing adherence to the Convention since the First Review Conference.

My delegation wishes to lend its full support to this year's draft resolution (A/C.1/59/L.16), which bolsters the three pillars of the Convention and reflects progress made since the First Review Conference on universalization, full and effective implementation and technical cooperation.
