While welcoming the inclusion of strategies aimed at the promotion of gender equality and empowerment of women in the National Poverty Reduction Strategy, the Committee is concerned about the precarious situation of women in rural areas, who constitute the majority of women in Guinea-Bissau and who live in situations of extreme poverty.
