33. Ms. Sodov (Mongolia) said that the recent crises had had far-reaching repercussions on economic and social development and that countries were just beginning to overcome them.

82. Ms. Sodov (Mongolia), speaking in explanation of vote after the voting, said that, in the past, Mongolia had invariably voted against the draft resolution, because its Criminal Code and other relevant laws established the death penalty.

9. Ms. Sodov (Mongolia) observed that Mongolia was fast emerging as a troop-contributing country, despite its small population and limited resources, having become one of the top 20 contributors to the most challenging United Nations missions, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Sudan and Chad.

24. Ms. Sodov (Mongolia), underscoring her country's commitment to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and other United Nations initiatives, said that the promotion of gender equality and empowerment was central to the development agenda of Mongolia.

55. Ms. Sodov (Mongolia), affirming her Government's commitment to achieving the Goals by 2015, said that 66 per cent of Mongolia-specific MDG targets had been achieved or were likely to be achieved by that date.
