We do not support any derogation from the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea that recognize the sovereign rights of coastal States.

One of the major contributions of the Convention in the area of progressive development of international law was the development of the concept of the exclusive economic zone and recognition of the sovereign rights of coastal States over their living and non-living resources.

In addition, in line with international law, nothing in those or other resolutions of the General Assembly can affect the sovereign rights of coastal States over their continental shelves, or their right to exercise jurisdiction over them.
وعلاوة على ذلك، ووفقا للقانون الدولي، ليس في تلك القرارات أو غيرها من قرارات الجمعية العامة ما يمكن أن يمس بالحقوق السيادية للدول الساحلية على جروفها القارية أو بحقها في ممارسة ولايتها القضائية عليها.

1. Without prejudice to the sovereign rights of coastal States for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the living marine resources within areas under national jurisdiction as provided for in the Convention, and the right of all States for their nationals to engage in fishing on the high seas in accordance with the Convention:
١ - دون المساس بالحقوق السيادية للدول الساحلية ﻷغراض استكشاف واستغلال وحفظ وإدارة الموارد البحرية الحية داخل المناطق الخاضعة لولايتها الوطنية على النحو المنصوص عليه في الاتفاقية، ودون المساس بحق جميع الدول في أن يعمل رعاياها في صيد السمك في أعالي البحار وفقا للاتفاقية:

35. Conversely, the view was expressed that the implementation of General Assembly resolution 61/105 by some States was not consistent with the sovereign rights of coastal States over their continental shelf.

50. The dispute settlement provisions herein shall not apply to disputes with coastal States relating to the sovereign rights of coastal States with respect to the living resources in their exclusive economic zones or the exercise of those rights and they do not affect in any way the provisions of Article 297 of the Convention.
٥٠ - لا تنطبق أحكام تسوية المنازعات المنصوص عليها في هذا على المنازعات مع الدول الساحلية المتصلة بالحقوق السيادية للدول الساحلية فيما يتعلق بالموارد الحية في مناطقها الاقتصادية الخالصة أو بممارستها لتلك الحقوق، ولا تمس بأي حال من اﻷحوال أحكام المادة ٢٩٧ من الاتفاقية.

104. Recalls that nothing in paragraphs 83 to 86 of resolution 61/105 is to prejudice the sovereign rights of coastal States over their continental shelf or the exercise of the jurisdiction of coastal States with regard to that shelf under international law as reflected in the Convention;

The Convention has sought to balance the sovereign rights of coastal States over ocean resources, as well as the jurisdiction of coastal States, with the need to preserve the right of navigation of all States in the maritime zones under national jurisdiction.
وقد استهدفت الاتفاقية إحداث توازن بين ما للدول الساحلية من حقوق سيادية على موارد المحيطات، فضلاً عن ولاية الدول الساحلية، من ناحية، والحاجة إلى الحفاظ على حق الملاحة لكافة الدول في المناطق البحرية الخاضعة للولاية الوطنية، من ناحية أخرى(2).

Even so, we do not support any outcome which would compromise the sovereign rights of coastal States over the living marine resources occurring within their own extended economic zones.
ومع ذلك فإننا لا نؤيد أية نتيجة تهدد الحقوق السيادية للدول الساحلية في الموارد البحرية الحية الواقعة ضمن مناطقنا الاقتصادية الخالصة الممتدة.
