56. The Special Rapporteur continues to be of the view that national and international sporting bodies and the United Nations need to work together more closely.

The Group of 77 and China endorsed the view that international sporting bodies should be encouraged to implement and expand programmes to combat racism in sport, particularly in football, and hoped that those programmes would be implemented promptly and with the full support of Governments.

48. Despite the efforts already made and the success of these initiatives, the Special Rapporteur continues to invite Member States to demonstrate greater commitment to fighting racism in sport, by conducting educational and awareness-raising activities and by very firmly condemning the perpetrators of racist incidents, in cooperation with national and international sporting bodies.

59. Lastly, the Special Rapporteur believes that, in order to effectively combat racism and general violence in sport in the long run, national and international sporting bodies must place greater emphasis on the fundamental values of sport and take measures against values based on nationalism and the financial dimension of competitive sports.
59 - ويرى المقرر الخاص في نهاية المطاف أنه حتى تكون المعركة ضد العنصرية والعنف بصورة عامة عميقة ودائمة في مجال الرياضة، ينبغي أن تعمل الهيئات الرياضية الوطنية والدولية على إحياء القيم الأساسية للرياضة وأن تتخذ تدابير لمناهضة النزعة القومية والعامل المالي في المنافسة الرياضية.

55. Despite the efforts already made and the success of these initiatives, the Special Rapporteur continues to invite member States to demonstrate greater commitment to fighting racism in sport, by conducting educational and awarenessraising activities and by very firmly condemning the perpetrators of racist incidents, in cooperation with national and international sporting bodies.

These international sporting bodies should work actively with each other, with the United Nations system and with Member States.

The efforts by States, international sporting bodies and civil society actors interested in combating racism in sport can serve as best practices that can be shared.
