All the States of Central Africa have signed this Treaty and five (Burundi, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Rwanda) have ratified it.

These actions of the States of Central Africa must be seen as part and parcel of the machinery for the prevention, management and settlement of conflicts that was set up at the most recent Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which was held in Cairo in June of this year.
