UNICEF is working with various Government institutions to harmonize Sudanese legislation with the Convention and its Optional Protocols.

35. Beginning with the Constitution and various other laws, Sudanese legislation prohibits the subjection of any person to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. Contrary to the practice in other States, hard labour is not included as a punishment in Sudanese laws.
35- حظرت التشريعات السودانية بدءاً بالدستور والقوانين الأخرى إخضاع أي أحد للتعذيب أو معاملته على نحو قاس أو لا إنساني أو مهين وعلى غير ما جرى عليه العمل في الدول الأخرى فإن الأشغال الشاقة كعقوبة غير واردة في القوانين السودانية.

86. Sudanese legislation -- starting with the Constitution -- forbids slavery and deems it a crime. Article 30 (1) of the Constitution prohibits slavery and all forms of slave trade, as well as forced labour.
86- تحظر التشريعات السودانية - بدءاً بالدستور - الرق وتعتبره جريمة، فقد نص الدستور في المادة 30(1) منه على حظر الرق والاتجار بالرقيق بجميع أشكاله والسخرة.

308. Sudanese legislation makes it clear that all sex offences are punished with the maximum penalties. The 2004 Children's Act and the 2006 draft Children's Act also prescribe sanctions for such crimes.
309- إن التشريعات السودانية نصت بوضوح على المعاقبة على كل الجرائم الجنسية بأقصى العقوبات، وقد وضح ذلك من خلال نصوص قانون الطفل 2004 ومشروع قانون الطفل سنة 2006 والذي شدد العقوبات على هذا النوع من الجرائم، إضافة إلى التصديق على البروتوكولين الاختياريين الملحقين باتفاقية حقوق الطفل بشأن تجنيد الأطفال وبشأن استغلالهم في البغاء والمواد الإباحية.

11. The Sudanese legislation asserts the principle of non-discrimination as one of the fundamental rights in order to obtain all services provided to children such as health, education, protection and social care. That principle is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Sudan, the Constitution of Southern Sudan and the constitutions of all states, in addition to other national legislations, the most important of which is the Child Act 2010.
11- لقد أكدت التشريعات السودانية على مبدأ عدم التمييز باعتباره من الحقوق الأساسية للحصول على كافة الخدمات التي تُقدم للطفولة من صحة، وتعليم، وحماية، ورعاية اجتماعية، حيث كفلت ذلك دستور السودان ودستور جنوب السودان ودساتير الولاية المختلفة بالاضافة إلى التشريعات القومية الأخرى وعلى رأسها قانون الطفل 2010.
