In countries with a diverse population, the development of these resources must take duly into account the diversity of values and beliefs of all societal groups, in particular those of indigenous peoples and local communities, thus recognizing the importance of natural resources and ancestral lands to their identity.
وفي البلدان التي تتنوع فئاتها السكانية ينبغي في استغلال هذه الموارد إيلاء المراعاة الواجبة لتنوع قيم ومعتقدات جميع الفئات المجتمعية، ولا سيما قيم ومعتقدات الشعوب الأصلية والمجتمعات المحلية، وذلك اعترافا بأهمية الموارد الطبيعية وأراضي الأجداد في تشكيل هويتها.

2. Recommends that the Economic and Social Council take duly into account the contents of the present resolution when holding, at its substantive session of July 2003, the review of all existing mechanisms, procedures and programmes within the United Nations concerning indigenous issues mandated in paragraph 8 of Council resolution 2000/22 of 28 July 2000 and Council decision 2002/286 of 25 July 2002.
