The Council stresses the importance of the parties abiding by the commitments recorded in the statement by the African Union Highlevel Implementation Panel of 15 November 2010, including to find peaceful solutions to all outstanding matters, to never to resort to war again, and that neither party should take any action, or support any group, that would undermine the security of the other.

The Council recalls its resolution 2046 (2012) and reiterates its request to the SecretaryGeneral, in consultation with the African Union Highlevel Implementation Panel, the Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, to report to the Council by 2 September 2012 on the status of negotiations.

The Council recalls its decision in resolution 2046 (2012) that the Government of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation MovementNorth should extend full cooperation to the African Union Highlevel Implementation Panel and the Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development to reach a negotiated settlement on the basis of the Framework Agreement of 28 June 2011.
