7. the Committee on Development Planning recommends four formal criteria of eligibility for LDC status: population, income, quality of life and potential for economic diversification.

242. The Economic and Social Council, in decision 1995/215, requested the Committee on Development Planning to examine its working procedures with a view to improving them, in particular, to reflect the ongoing work of the Council and the General Assembly and their subsidiary bodies.

The Commission should give careful thought to the nature of its output, drawing upon examples such as the World Development Report of the World Bank, the Human Development Report of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the work of the Committee on Development Planning.

At the 43rd meeting, on 19 November, the representative of the United Republic of Tanzania, on behalf of the States Members of the United Nations that are members of the Group of 77 and China, as well as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, introduced a draft resolution entitled " Report of the Committee on Development Planning " (A/C.2/52/L.28), which read:
