In compliance with article 33, one or more members of the Committee may undertake country visits in case that the Committee receives reliable information that a State party is seriously violating the provisions of the Convention.

26. The words “from any source” should be deleted, since empowering the Committee to seek information from any source would be contrary to the letter and spirit of the article, paragraph 1 of which contains the stipulation “if the Committee receives”.

1. 2. 410. In accordance with article 8, paragraph 1, of the Optional Protocol, if the Committee receives reliable information indicating grave or systematic violations by a State party of rights set forth in the Convention, the Committee shall invite that State party to cooperate in the examination of the information and, to that end, to submit observations with regard to the information concerned.

To ensure that the Committee receives such submissions at an appropriate stage of the procedure, they should be made at one or more of the following times:
