Operative paragraph 2 of General Assembly resolution 57/77 reads as follows: " Requests the Conference on Disarmament to consider the formulation of principles that can serve as a framework for regional agreements on conventional arms control, and looks forward to a report of the Conference on this subject. "
تنص الفقرة 2 من منطوق قرار الجمعية العامة 57/77 على ما يلي: " تطلب إلى مؤتمر نزع السلاح أن ينظر في صياغة مبادئ يمكن أن تصبح إطارا لاتفاقات إقليمية بشأن تحديد الأسلحة التقليدية، وتتطلع إلى تلقي تقرير من المؤتمر عن هذا الموضوع " .

We think that the Ottawa Process and the mandate of the Conference on this subject, although different arrangements because of their very nature, should be considered as complementary and compatible and in no way mutually exclusive or contradictory.
ونعتقد أنه ينبغي اعتبار عملية أوتاوا وولاية المؤتمر بشأن هذا الموضوع أمرين متكاملين ومتسقين لا يستبعد أحدهما اﻵخر ولا يتعارض معه بأي شكل رغم كونهما ترتيبين مختلفين بسبب طبيعة كل منهما.
