2. Pursuant to the request of the General Assembly, the actions with respect to the Convention and its three Protocols for the period under review, that is, from 1 September 1993 to 31 August 1994, are indicated in the annex to the present report.

22. The Tenth United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, to be held in Vienna in April 2000, would be a prime occasion to make the Convention and its three Protocols operational by forging the necessary technical cooperation links.
٢٢ - وذكرت أن مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة العاشر لمنع الجريمة ومعاملة المجرمين الذي سيعقد في فيينا في نيسان/ أبريل ٢٠٠٠ سيكون مناسبة هامة لوضع الاتفاقية وبروتوكولاتها الثلاثة موضع التنفيذ بإقامة الصلات اللازمة للتعاون التقني.

8. A report of the Secretary-General on promoting the ratification of the Convention and its three Protocols (E/CN.15/2002/10) was submitted to the Commission at its eleventh session.

9 - قدّم ممثل مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة عرضا مفصلا للعناصر الرئيسية التي تتكون منها الاتفاقية وبروتوكولاتها الثلاثة التي تتصل بالرق وتهريب المهاجرين وتصنيع الأسلحة والاتجار بها بشكل غير مشروع.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has continued to assist Member States with the ratification and implementation of the Convention and its three Protocols by providing technical assistance for the necessary domestic legislation and the establishment of new frameworks for mutual legal assistance, extradition and law enforcement cooperation.

The representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime made a detailed presentation on the progress made by the French-speaking States of Africa in the ratification of the Convention and its three Protocols concerning trafficking in persons, illicit trafficking in migrants and manufacture of and illicit trafficking in firearms, as well as in the ratification of the universal anti-terrorism instruments.

2. Pursuant to the request of the General Assembly, the Secretary-General submits herewith information on the actions with respect to the Convention and its three Protocols for the period under review, that is, from 1 July 1995 to 30 June 1996, which is contained in the annex to the present report.
