The Supreme Council, in anticipation of the forthcoming meeting of the Damascus Declaration countries, reviewed the progress made by cooperation in that framework and affirmed the importance of its continuation with a view to fulfilling the aspirations of those countries and their peoples.

At the invitation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Damascus Declaration States held their fourteenth meeting in Cairo on 28 and 29 December 1996.
بناء على الدعوة الموجهة من جمهورية مصر العربية، عقد وزراء خارجية دول إعلان دمشق اجتماعهم الرابع عشر بالقاهرة يومي السبت واﻷحد ٧١ - ١٨ شعبان ١٤١٧ ﻫ، الموافق ٢٨ - ٢٩ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٦.

The Ministers strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms, and whatever its source or impetus. They noted the importance of solid cooperation between the Damascus Declaration States in confronting manifestations of extremism and violence, as such manifestations threatened stability and development, and conflicted with the essence of Islam, tolerance.
أكد الوزراء إدانتهم لﻹرهاب بكافة أشكاله وأيا كانت مصادره ودوافعه، وأشاروا إلى أهمية التعاون الوثيق بين دول إعلان دمشق في مواجهة ظاهرة التطرف والعنف باعتبارها ظاهرة تهدد الاستقرار والتنمية وتتناقض مع جوهر اﻹسلام السمح.

The Ministers of the Damascus Declaration States expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the kindness and hospitality with which they had been received, and commended the efficient arrangements that had contributed to the success of the meeting. They wished the Arab Republic of Egypt further progress and prosperity under the leadership of His Excellency President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak and his excellent Government.
وعبر وزراء دول إعلان دمشق عن شكرهم وتقديرهم للحفاوة والتكريم اللذين قوبلوا بهما وأشادوا بالترتيب والتنظيم اللذين كان لهما كبير اﻷثر على نجاح هذا الاجتماع، متمنين لجمهورية مصر العربية كل التقدم والرخاء، وعلى رأسها فخامة الرئيس محمد حسني مبارك وحكومته الرشيدة.

The Minsters met while bearing in mind the role played by the Damascus Declaration States in promoting Arab solidarity, advancing the interests of the Arab nation and safeguarding joint Arab security and in response to the requirements of the upcoming stage, which will be of great importance and moment as it relates, in particular, to the peace process in the Middle East in the light of regional and international developments.
انطلاقا من الدور الذي تضطلع به دول إعلان دمشق لتحقيق التضامن العربي وخدمة قضايا اﻷمة العربية والحفاظ على أمنها القومي المشترك واستجابة لمتطلبات المرحلة القادمة التي تتميز باﻷهمية البالغة والخطورة، خصوصا ما يتعلق منها بعملية السلام في الشرق اﻷوسط في ضوء التطورات اﻹقليمية والدولية،
