Discussions on an international regime on access and benefit-sharing, which continued in the context of the eighth and ninth meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Access and Benefit-sharing, concluded with the endorsement of a draft protocol. The draft was finalized and adopted in October 2010 by the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention.
