As stated in the explanation of vote that was read by the delegation of the Netherlands at the 24th meeting of the First Committee on behalf of 21 countries, the resolution includes only limited references to the Treaty on the NonProliferation of Nuclear Weapons, while the Netherlands would have very much preferred a broader reference to the Treaty and an underlining of its pivotal importance to nuclear disarmament.
