223 - اقترحت الحكومة مؤخراً إدخال تعديل على المادة 66 من قانون المصانع لعام 1948 بغية السماح للعاملات بالعمل في الفترة بين الساعة السابعة مساءً والساعة السادسة صباحاً. ومن بين جملة أمور ينص التعديل على أن يقوم المخدِّم بكفالة السلامة المهنية والحماية المناسبة للعاملات.

Besides, the various labour laws, like the Factories Act, 1948, the Plantation Labour Act, 1951, the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970, Maternity Benefit Act, 1964, Beedi and Cigar Workers (Condition of Employment) Act, 1966 providing special measures for women workers are also applicable to the private sector.

the Factories Act, 1934 states in section 45 that: No woman shall be allowed to work in a factory except between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Except with the permission of the Government, no woman or young person shall be employed in any establishment otherwise than between the hours of 9.00 AM and 7.00 PM.
