21. Following the provisions contained in decision 9/COP.7, it is proposed that the fifth session of the CRIC be divided into two segments.

2. The present report was prepared in accordance with decision 9/COP.7 on the programme of work of the fifth session of the CRIC.

8. As a consequence of this process, and following decision 10/COP.7 and consultations with the Bureau of the COP and the Chairperson of the CRIC, the dates of the fifth session of the CRIC were finally set as 4 - 13 October 2006.

In the light of these developments, the Bureau of the COP, at its meeting on 2 February 2006, decided to convene the fifth session of the CRIC in early October 2006, and granted the Executive Secretary the authority to decide on the date of the fifth session.

Consequently, the Parties as at the opening of the fifth session of the CRIC on 4 October 2006 will be the States and regional economic integration organizations that deposited their instruments by 7 July 2006.
