In relation to the duties of the occupying Power, article 43 of the Hague Regulations of 1907 states:

It must be reiterated that all of the aforementioned actions by Israel have been committed in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the Hague Regulations of 1907 and in blatant defiance of relevant Security Council resolutions.
