6-3 وتلاحظ اللجنة من التقارير الحديثة العهد عن حالة حقوق الإنسان في سري لانكا أنه على الرغم من الجهود المبذولة للقضاء على التعذيب، فإن الإبلاغ عن حالات التعذيب ما زال قائماً كما أن رجال الشرطة والقضاة والأطباء لا يتناولون في أغلب الأحيان الشكاوى المتعلقة بالتعذيب بصورة فعالة.

The European Union was gravely concerned with the deterioration of the human rights situation in Sri Lanka, in particular the disturbing rise in abductions, enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, extrajudicial killings and extortion perpetrated by the Government, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elaam (LTTE) and the Karuna faction.

4.16 As for the human rights situation in Sri Lanka, the State party refers to the jurisprudence of the United Nations Committee against Torture in V.N.I.M v. Canada in which it found the author's allegations not to be credible or corroborated by objective evidence.
