In particular, it notes with deep concern that, according to article 30 of the Juvenile Act, the juvenile judge may impose a protection measure on children without summoning them to appear when the case does not constitute a crime, ordinary offence or minor offence.

47. In 2007, the Juvenile Act was amended in response to the need for restoration of juvenile delinquents and juvenile victims and the request of the local community, in order to prevent crime and its reoccurrence.

581. The Committee reiterates its concern in this regard and recommends that the State party promptly complete the process of the reform of the Juvenile Act of 1967 in order to provide comprehensive protection for all children.
581- تكرر اللجنة الإعراب عن قلقها في هذا الصدد وتوصي الدولة الطرف بأن تعجل باستكمال عملية إصلاح قانون الأحداث لعام 1967 لكي توفر حماية شاملة لجميع الأطفال.

The Committee recommends that the State party fully incorporate the principle of the best interests of the child in all programmes, policies, judicial and administrative procedures, and in particular in the reform of the Juvenile Act and the implementation of the National Policy and Plan of Action.

In these institutions juveniles are separated according to age and the type of offence they have committed (article 29 of the Juvenile Act as amended by Legislative Decree No. 52 of 1 September 2003).

78. Ms. Al Zayed (Bahrain) said that her country was a party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and that children were afforded legal protection by the Juvenile Act and by the Penal Code of 1976.
