The awareness of the global scale of the effects of the Chernobyl disaster was the impetus for my initiative to convene the Kyiv Summit on the Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy in April.

1. On 19 April 2011, in his speech at the Kyiv Summit on the Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy, the Secretary-General noted that, in the light of expectations for the continued growth in nuclear power, ensuring maximum nuclear safety has assumed great significance.

We are pleased to acknowledge productive discussions on the issue raised within the framework of the Kyiv Summit on the Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy and at the International Conference held in Kyiv last week under the theme was " Twenty-five Years After the Chernobyl Disaster: Safety for the Future " .

In commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, the President and the Government of Ukraine organized two important international events in Kyiv in 2011: the Kyiv Summit for the Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy, and an international scientific conference on the theme " Twenty-five years after the Chernobyl accident -- safety for the future " .
وإحياءً للذكرى السنوية الخامسة والعشرين لكارثة تشيرنوبل، نظم رئيس أوكرانيا وحكومتها حدثين دوليين هامين في كييف في 2011، وهما: مؤتمر قمة كييف من أجل الاستخدام الآمن والابتكاري للطاقة النووية، والمؤتمر العلمي الدولي تحت عنوان " خمسة وعشرون عاما بعد حادث تشيرنوبل: السلامة من أجل المستقبل " .

In commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the Government of Ukraine had organized the Kyiv Summit on Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy, one of the outcomes of which had been the participants' unanimous recognition of the need to give priority to adequate levels of nuclear safety at every stage of nuclear energy production.
وأعلن أن حكومة أوكرانيا، إحياءا منها للذكرى السنوية الخامسة والعشرين للكارثة النووية في تشيرنوبيل، نظمت مؤتمر قمة كييف بشأن الاستخدام المأمون والابتكاري للطاقة النووية، الذي كانت إحدى نتائجه الإقرار الإجماعي من المشتركين في المؤتمر بضرورة إعطاء الأولوية لمستويات وافية من السلامة النووية في كل مرحلة من إنتاج الطاقة النووية.

the Kyiv Summit, scheduled to take place on 19 April 2011, will be part of the events devoted to the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and will be held together with an international high-level conference, as well as a pledging conference for the Chernobyl Shelter Fund and Nuclear Safety Account to enable the timely completion of projects that will make the site safe.
وسيمثل مؤتمر قمة كييف المزمع عقده في 19 نيسان/أبريل 2011، جزءاً من تظاهرات مخصصة لإحياء الذكرى الخامسة والعشرين لكارثة تشيرنوبل وسيعقد بالتزامن مع مؤتمر دولي رفيع المستوى، وكذلك مع مؤتمر الإعلان عن التبرعات لصندوق بناء غطاء واق في تشيرنوبل وحساب السلامة النووي، للتمكين من استكمال المشاريع التي ستجعل من هذا الموقع موقعاً آمناً، في الوقت المناسب.
