3. In paragraph 9 of resolution 940 (1994), the Security Council revised and extended the mandate of UNMIH for a period of six months.

26. The office of the HNP Director-General has drafted a plan for the institutional development of the police that incorporates in large measure the work and recommendations of the working groups that functioned during the mandate of UNMIH.

10. In my last report (see S/1995/922, para. 17), I mentioned that the Government of Haiti had decided on a national police force of 5,000 officers, to be trained and deployed before the end of the mandate of UNMIH on 29 February 1996.

In its resolution 1007 (1995), the Security Council extended the mandate of UNMIH for a period of seven months until 29 February 1996 in anticipation of the conclusion of the mandate at that time.
