Having considered the reports of the Secretary-General on improving the effective and efficient delivery of the mandates of development-related activities and revised estimates relating to the programme budget for the biennium 2008 - 2009 and the Development Account, and the related reports of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions,
وقد نظرت في تقريري الأمين العام عن تحسين فعالية وكفاءة تنفيذ الولايات المتصلة بالأنشطة الإنمائية والتقديرات المنقحة المتعلقة بالميزانية البرنامجية لفترة السنتين 2008-2009() وعن حساب التنمية() وفي تقريري اللجنة الاستشارية لشؤون الإدارة والميزانية ذوي الصلة()،

The report of the Secretary-General on improving the effective and efficient delivery of the mandates of development-related activities and revised estimates relating to the programme budget for the biennium 2008-2009 (A/62/708) contained attention to critical gaps in gender equality work in the process of strengthening the development pillar of the United Nations.
وشمل تقرير الأمين العام عن تحسين فعالية وكفاءة تنفيذ الولايات المتصلة بالأنشطة الإنمائية والتقديرات المنقحة المتعلقة بالميزانية البرنامجية لفترة السنتين 2008-2009 (A/62/708)، اهتماما بالثغرات الحرجة في الأعمال الرامية إلى تحقيق المساواة بين الجنسين في عملية تعزيز دعامة التنمية بالأمم المتحدة.

1. Mr. Sen (India) said that, considering that the world was facing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, the Secretary-General's modest proposals for strengthening the development pillar of the Secretariat, contained in his report on improving the delivery of the mandates of development-related activities (A/62/708), were timely.
