According to JS5, in the northern region of Iraq, the authorities in the provinces of Erbil, Dehuk and Sulaymaniyah continued to arrest suspects without warrants and hold them indefinitely without trial in detention centres and prisons that do not meet the most basic humane conditions.

According to Iraqi-HRC, rape cases have reached an unprecedented level in the northern region of Iraq, (Erbil, Dehuk and Sulaymaniyah) and the authorities hide these crimes because of the implication of its security services.
