وإن من المؤسف أن تختار تركيا مرة أخرى، عوضاً عن تحمل مسؤولياتها بموجب أحكام قرار لجنة حقوق الإنسان 4(د-31)، التستر وراء الإدارة المحلية التابعة لها في المنطقة المحتلة من قبرص لتعبر عن آرائها من خلال تعميم وثيقة مليئة بادعاءات لا أساس لها من الصحة وبعرض مشوه للأحداث ومسيّس تسييساً محضاً.

It is obvious that what is happening to the religious and cultural properties in the occupied area of Cyprus is a direct violation of international law and, more specifically, the 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, and the 1954 Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

In my above-mentioned letter I informed of the announced intention of the illegal secessionist entity, set up in the occupied area of Cyprus, to put up for sale properties, including the " Salamis Bay Hotel " in Famagusta, which was illegally usurped from its rightful owner following the Turkish invasion and occupation of a large part of Cyprus in 1974.
