We would also like to express our great appreciation for the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the relevant Departments and competent organizations and agencies of the United Nations system to mitigate the suffering of the peoples affected.

108. Several indigenous participants recommended, inter alia, that the Working Group should include the subject of disappearing States and territories, and that representatives of the peoples affected be afforded the opportunity to participate in studies and analyses and that they should be allowed to contribute actively in addressing the problem.
108- وأوصى العديد من المشاركين الأصليين، فيما أوصوا، بأن يدرج الفريق العامل موضوع الدول والأقاليم المهددة بالزوال، وأن تتاح لممثلي الشعوب المتضررة فرصة المشاركة في الدراسات والتحاليل وأن يُسمح لهم بالمساهمة بنشاط في معالجة المشكلة.

وعلى الدول* أيضا أن تتخذ تدابير فعالة لكي تكفل، عند اللزوم، حسن تنفيذ البرامج المتعلقة برصد وحفظ ومعالجة صحة بيئة الشعوب الأصلية المتضررة من المواد الخطرة التي تم تخزينها أو التخلص منها على أراضيها دون موافقتها الحرة والمستنيرة، حسبما تعدها وتنفذها الشعوب المتضررة من هذه المواد، عند اللزوم.

She raised a range of questions in this regard and stressed that these had so far not been considered by any United Nations or other international body from the perspective of the human rights of the peoples affected.
