Furthermore, the Division has started the training course, at subregional level, to assist States in the preparation of submissions to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf for the delineation of the outer limits of their continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles.

An issue of the utmost importance to all parties to the Convention and to the international community as a whole is the preparation of submissions to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf regarding the establishment of the outer limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles.

Article 76 of the Convention calls for the Trust Fund, as established by the General Assembly in resolution 55/7, to assist developing countries in the preparation of submissions to the Commission.

We recognize that the importance of exchanging views among States in order to facilitate the preparation of submissions by States to the Commission is mentioned in paragraph 33 of the omnibus resolution.

105. In October 2000, a trust fund was established by the General Assembly (resolution 55/7) for the purpose of facilitating the preparation of submissions to the Commission.
