On civil and political rights, the SubCommission took action on a number of issues, such as violations of the rights of human rights defenders in all countries, the death penalty, in particular in relation to juvenile offenders, the prevention of discrimination against and the protection of minorities, and the draft international convention on the protection of all persons from enforced disappearance.

3- ونظرا لتوافق آراء المجتمع الدولي على الاعتراف بشرعية الأعمال الهامة التي يقوم بها المدافعون عن حقوق الإنسان، اعتبر تواتر الإبلاغ عن انتهاكات حقوق المدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان في أنحاء كثيرة من العالم مسألة تثير بالغ القلق.

In fact, the allegations received pertain to cases of violations of the rights of human rights defenders in all countries, including emerging democracies and countries with long-established democratic institutions, practices and traditions.
47- والواقع أن المزاعم التي تلقتها الممثلة الخاصة تتعلق بحالات انتهاك حقوق المدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان في جميع البلدان، بما فيها الديمقراطيات الناشئة والبلدان التي ترسخت فيها المؤسسات والممارسات والتقاليد الديمقراطية منذ أمد بعيد.
