21. In this connection, it is recalled that in paragraph 162 of its resolution 60/1, the General Assembly had reaffirmed the role of the Secretary-General as Chief Administrative Officer, in accordance with Article 97 of the Charter.

The 2005 World Summit, in paragraphs 162 and 163 of General Assembly resolution 60/1, reaffirmed the role of the Secretary-General as the chief administrative officer of the Organization and requested him to make proposals to the Assembly on the conditions and measures necessary for him to carry out his managerial responsibilities effectively.
