Let me take this occasion to focus on four topics: national ownership, the importance of coordination and coherence, the responsibility of Member States, and the role of women in peacebuilding.

2. Recognizes the need for timely information and analysis on the impact of armed conflict on women and girls, the role of women in peacebuilding and the gender dimensions of peace processes and conflict resolution for situations on the Council's agenda, and therefore:

Mr. Chng Tze Chia (Singapore), welcoming the informal interactive panel discussion on the role of women in peacebuilding, said that his delegation was particularly proud of the contribution being made by the Singaporean national Ms. Noeleen Heyzer, Executive Director of UNIFEM, to women's issues on a global scale.

In solidarity with the emerging role of women in peacebuilding processes in Africa, the organization presented a paper on the role of women in peacebuilding, security and conflict management in East Africa at a conference in Rwanda in December 2008.
وتضامنا مع الدور الناشئ للمرأة في عمليات بناء السلام في أفريقيا، قدمت المنظمة ورقة بحث عن دور المرأة في بناء السلام والأمن وإدارة الصراعات في شرق أفريقيا، وذلك في مؤتمر عقد في رواندا في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2008.

25. Her Government had taken steps to that end by adopting its National Action Plan for Security Council resolution 1325 (2000), which embedded the role of women in peacebuilding throughout the country's defence, diplomatic and development activity.
