As requested by the Ivorian parties within the framework of the 2005 Pretoria Accord and mandated by the Security Council, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Côte d'Ivoire certified the second round of presidential elections, confirming the outcome as announced by the Electoral Commission.
وكما طلبت الأطراف في كوت ديفوار في إطار اتفاق بريتوريا عام 2005 وأصدر مجلس الأمن ولاية به، صدّق الممثل الخاص للأمين العام في كوت ديفوار على الجولة الثانية من الانتخابات الرئاسية، مُؤكدا النتائج كما أعلنتها اللجنة الانتخابية.

This role was later reassigned, however, and integrated with the role of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Côte d'Ivoire.
49 - سعيا إلى كفالة استقلال هذه المهمّة عن مهمّة البعثة، طلب مجلس الأمن إلى الأمين العام، في قراره 1603 (2005)، أن يعين ممثلا ساميا للانتخابات في كوت ديفوار غير أن هذا الدور أُعيد إسناده لاحقا للممثل الخاص للأمين العام في كوت ديفوار وأدمج مع مهامه الأخرى().

In its resolution 1765 (2007) of 16 July 2007, the Security Council, acting under Chapter VII of the Charter, decided " that the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Côte d'Ivoire shall certify that all stages of the electoral process provide all the necessary guarantees for the holding of open, free, fair and transparent presidential and legislative elections in accordance with international standards " .
