The secretariat briefed the Committee on developments at the sixtieth regular session of the General Assembly and reported on the Forward Looking Strategic Plan on the two global campaigns of UNHabitat and also on the status of the preparations for the disaster management strategic plan, as requested by Governing Council at its twentieth session.

The Chairman invited the Committee to consider a request by States members of the GUAM group (Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) for the inclusion in the agenda of the sixtieth regular session of the General Assembly of an agenda item entitled " Protracted conflicts in the Black Sea-South Caucasus region and their implications for international peace, security and development " .
