Draft staff rule 101.2 (m) enables the Secretary-General, on an exceptional basis, to authorize a staff member to accept an honour, decoration, favour, gift or remuneration from a non-governmental source that falls outside draft staff rules 101.2 (j) to (l) as long as such acceptance is in the interests of the United Nations and not inconsistent with the staff member's status.

12. Decides that staff regulation 1.2 (m) will be amended to read: " A conflict of interest occurs when, by act or omission, a staff member's personal interests interfere with the performance of his or her official duties and responsibilities or with the integrity, independence and impartiality required by the staff member's status as an international civil servant.
12 - تقرر تعديل البند 1/2 (م) من النظام الأساسي للموظفين على النحو التالي: " يكون تضارب المصالح قائما متى كانت المصالح الشخصية للموظف، نتيجة إتيان عمل أو الامتناع عن عمل، تعرقل أداءه لمهامه ومسؤولياته الرسمية، أو تخل بشروط النزاهة والاستقلال والحياد التي يتطلبها مركز الموظف بوصفه موظفا دوليا.

(k) Acceptance by staff members of any honour, decoration, favour, gift or remuneration from non-governmental sources requires the prior approval of the Secretary-General. Approval shall be granted only in exceptional cases and where such acceptance is not incompatible with the interests of the Organization and with the staff member's status as an international civil servant.
(ك) قبول الموظفين لأي تكريم أو وسام أو صنيع أو هدية أو مكافأة من مصادر غير حكومية يقتضي الحصول على موافقة مسبقة من الأمين العام ولا تمنــح الموافقــة إلا في حالات استثنائية وحيثما لا يتعارض هذا القبول مع مصالح المنظمة ومع مركز الموظف بوصفه موظفاً مدنياً دولياً.
