Meanwhile, the States members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have adopted the ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials to ensure efficient control over the proliferation of conventional arms in the subregion.

The easy access to small arms and light weapons and their illicit trafficking remains a source of great concern to the States members of the Economic Community of West African States, a subregional organization of which my country is a member.
وما زال الحصول بسهولة على الأسلحة الصغيرة والأسلحة الخفيفة والاتجار غير المشروع بها مصدرا لقلق كبير للدول الأعضاء في الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا، وهي منظمة دون إقليمية بلدي عضو فيها.
