His delegation agreed with the conclusion reached in the Secretary-General's report on the status and role of cooperatives in the light of new economic and social trends (A/49/213) that cooperative enterprises were a means of creating productive employment, overcoming poverty and achieving social integration, which were the main themes of the Summit.
١٧ - وأردف قائلا إن وفده يتفق مع النتيجة التي توصل إليها تقرير اﻷمين العام عن مركز التعاونيات ودورها في ضوء الاتجاهات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية الجديدة )A/49/213( من أن التعاونيات تشكل وسيلة لخلق عمالة منتجة، وللتغلب على الفقر وتحقيق التكامل الاجتماعي وهي تعد من المواضيع الرئيسية في مؤتمر القمة.

To illustrate the role of the cooperative movement, he drew attention to document A/49/213 on the status and role of cooperatives in the light of new economic and social trends, in particular paragraph 55 dealing with the expansion of productive employment, the reduction of poverty and the enhancement of social integration.

6. Turning to the Secretary-General's report on the status and role of cooperatives (A/49/213), she said that her Government supported his recommendations concerning cooperatives, which played an important role in her country in mobilizing capital, generating employment and increasing productivity.

With regard to the report of the Secretary-General on the status and role of cooperatives in the light of new economic and social trends (A/51/267), his delegation recognized the part which the cooperative movement had to play in implementing the commitments made at Copenhagen, particularly in the areas of employment, social integration and poverty eradication.
وذكر فيما يتصل بتقرير اﻷمين العام عن مركز التعاونيات ودورها في ضوء الاتجاهات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية الجديدة (A/51/267)، أن وفده يعترف بالدور الذي يتعين على الحركة التعاونية أن تقوم به في تنفيذ التعهدات الصادرة في كوبنهاغن، ولا سيما في مجالات العمالة، والتكامل الاجتماعي، والقضاء على الفقر.

The conferences acknowledged the importance of the cooperative sector, and made reference to the cooperative movement in the commitments and strategies adopted. In cooperation with other members of the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC), the Division prepared the report of the Secretary-General (A/51/267) on the status and role of cooperatives in the light of new economic and social trends.

Lastly, the report of the Secretary-General on the status and role of cooperatives (A/54/57) contained the results of the Secretary-General’s survey, carried out in cooperation with the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives, on the desirability and feasibility of elaborating United Nations guidelines aimed at creating a supportive environment for the development of cooperatives.
