The Government of Georgia continues to seek a peaceful settlement of the conflict on the basis of determining the status of Abkhazia as a part of Georgia on the recommendations of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
وتواصل حكومة جورجيا السعي للتوصل إلى تسوية للنزاع بالوسائل السلمية على أساس تحديد وضع أبخازيا بوصفها جزءا من جورجيا وفقا لتوصيات اﻷمم المتحدة، ومنظمة اﻷمن والتعاون في أوروبا، ورابطة الدول المستقلة.

However, the lack of progress so far on the critical issue of defining the status of Abkhazia within the state of Georgia is deeply regrettable.
بيد أن عدم إحراز تقدم حتى الآن بشأن المسألة الحاسمة المتعلقة بتحديد مركز أبخازيا داخل دولة جورجيا هو أمر مثار عميق الأسف.

The reference is made to the so-called " Boden Document " stipulating that the status of Abkhazia be defined exclusively within Georgia, which automatically rules out any kind of manipulation around this problem.

2. Reaffirms the commitment of all Member States to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders, and the necessity to define the status of Abkhazia within the State of Georgia in strict accordance with these principles;

4. Recalls that the purpose of these documents is to facilitate meaningful negotiations between the parties, under the leadership of the United Nations, on the status of Abkhazia within the State of Georgia, and is not an attempt to impose or dictate any specific solution to the parties;

Despite various efforts within the framework of the United Nations-led peace process, progress on confidence-building measures was very slow and negotiations on the core issue, the status of Abkhazia within Georgia, showed virtually no progress at all.

During the discussion, a number of Council members expressed disappointment at the lack of substantive progress towards a settlement of the issue of the status of Abkhazia within Georgia, which they stressed was key to the resolution of the conflict.
وخلال المناقشة أعرب عدد من أعضاء المجلس عن خيبة أمله إزاء عدم وجود تقدم جوهري نحو تسوية مسألة مركز أبخازيا داخل جورجيا، التي أكدوا أنها المفتاح لحل الصراع.

The Abkhaz side continued to refuse to discuss the status issue and rejected the paper on competences as a basis for substantive negotiations as, in its view, the status of Abkhazia has long been determined.
