According to article IV of the statute of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, annexed to Economic and Social Council resolution 1989/56:
5- وتقضي المادة الرابعة من النظام الأساسي لمعهد الأمم المتحدة الأقاليمي لأبحاث الجريمة والعدالة، المرفق بقرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي 1989/56، بما يلي:

the statute of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute requires, moreover, that the report of the Board of Trustees be submitted to the Economic and Social Council through the Commission, while the report on the activities of the institutes of the United Nations crime prevention and criminal justice programme network is submitted to the Commission only.

2. According to the article IV of the statute of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, annexed to Economic and Social Council resolution 1989/56:

Pursuant to article IV, paragraph 2 (a), of the statute of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (Economic and Social Council resolution 1989/56, annex), the members of the Board of Trustees of the Institute serving in their individual capacity are selected by the Commission upon nomination by the Secretary-General and are endorsed by the Council.
عملا بالفقرة 2 (أ) من المادة الرابعة من النظام الأساسي لمعهد الأمم المتحدة الأقاليمي لأبحاث الجريمة والعدالة (مرفق قرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي 1989/56)، تختار اللجنة أعضاء مجلس أمناء المعهد الذين يعملون بصفتهم الشخصية بعد أن يرشحهم الأمين العام ويوافق عليهم المجلس.

In accordance with article IV of the statute of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (Economic and Social Council resolution 1989/56, annex), the Commission will select, from among candidates nominated by the Secretary-General, members of the Board of Trustees of the Institute, for endorsement by the Council.

In accordance with article IV, paragraph 3 (e), of the statute of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (Economic and Social Council resolution 1989/56, annex), the Board of Trustees of the Institute shall report periodically to the Economic and Social Council through the Commission (formerly called the Committee on Crime Prevention and Control).
