In its decision 1995/118, the Sub-Commission expressed its satisfaction for the second progress report of the Special Rapporteur and requested him to submit a third progress report to the Working Group on Indigenous Populations at its fourteenth session and to the Sub-Commission at its forty-eighth session.

In its resolution 1995/16, the Sub-Commission requested the Secretary-General to invite States to inform the Working Group of measures adopted to implement the Programme of Action and to submit a report thereon to the Sub-Commission at its forty-eighth session and to the Commission at its fifty-third session.

43. This item has been regularly considered by the Sub-Commission since 1962, in conformity with resolution 5 (XIV). The Sub-Commission, at its forty-eighth session, will have before it a note by the Secretary-General containing a review of further developments in fields with which the Sub-Commission has been concerned (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1996/3).

169. The Working Group decided to recommend that the Special Rapporteur be given adequate resources, including the necessary consultancy assistance, as well as for any field visits deemed indispensable to the proper conclusion of his study, so that he could submit his final report to the Working Group at its fourteenth session and to the Sub-Commission at its forty-eighth session.
