The meeting afforded an opportunity for the Malian authorities, the region and the wider international community to review progress made on the implementation of the transitional road map since the Group's previous meeting, held in Brussels on 5 February, and to outline the way forward.

The United Nations has continued to work closely with national stakeholders as well as with the African Union (AU), ECOWAS and other key international stakeholders to support the implementation of the transitional road map and the various pillars of the African Union strategic concept for Mali, as endorsed by the Support and Follow-up Group on the situation in Mali.

In particular, the Council asked me to report every three months, from 1 July 2013, with updates on the security situation, the priority political elements of the transitional road map and the electoral process, as well as relevant information on the progress, promotion and protection of human rights and international humanitarian law.
