Following that debate, the General Assembly, at its 81st plenary meeting, on 7 December 1998, adopted resolution 53/92, in which, inter alia, it urged all States to assist in strengthening Africa's capacity to participate in all aspects of peacekeeping operations, in particular through increased cooperation between the United Nations and OAU and between the United Nations and subregional organizations.
