174. The Standing Committee recognized that, as a general matter, there was a need to codify the long-standing practice that governed the Fund's financial management, given that the UNJSPF Regulations did not contain any financial rules applicable to the operations of the Fund.

B. Investment process 13. 22. In accordance with article 31 of the UNJSPF Regulations, a withdrawal settlement shall be payable to a participant of the Pension Fund whose age on separation is less than the normal retirement age, or if the participant is the normal retirement age or more on separation but is not entitled to a retirement benefit.

I. Contractual arrangements with the consulting actuary 223. The Board considered a note on contractual arrangements with the consulting actuary presented by the Secretary/CEO. It was recalled that article 10 of the UNJSPF Regulations states a consulting actuary to the Board shall be appointed by the Secretary-General upon the recommendation of the Board for the purpose of providing actuarial services to the Fund.
