This might permit at least some compensation to be paid to the victims or their families which would undoubtedly enhance their faith in the work of these tribunals and their willingness to cooperate with them.

He reiterates his call to the Transitional Government of Ethiopia to ensure that all allegations of human rights violations are exhaustively and impartially investigated, with a view to establishing the facts, identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice, granting adequate compensation to the victims or their families, and preventing the recurrence of such violations.
ويكرر المقرر الخاص دعوته لحكومة إثيوبيا الانتقالية أن تكفل التحقيق بصورة شاملة ونزيهة في جميع المزاعم المتعلقة بانتهاكات حقوق اﻹنسان، وذلك بغية إثبات الحقائق والتعرف على هويات أولئك المسؤولين عن ارتكاب هذه الانتهاكات وإحالتهم إلى القضاء مع دفع تعويضات كافية للضحايا أو ﻷسرهم والحيلولة دون تكرر مثل هذه الانتهاكات.

The right to due process has not been properly respected, since the competent bodies have failed to carry out the State's duty to investigate, prosecute and punish perpetrators of human rights violations and, where appropriate, to award due compensation to the victims or their families.
١٨٢ - ولم يحترم على النحو المناسب الحق في سلامة اﻹجراءات القانونية إذ أن الهيئات المختصة لم تؤد واجب الدولة في التحقيق، وفي مقاضاة ومعاقبة مقترفي انتهاكات حقوق اﻹنسان وتقديم التعويض المناسب عند الاقتضاء للضحايا أو ﻷسرهم.

No redress is reportedly available to the victims or their families from the Government, in violation of article 19 of the Declaration.

404. The Special Rapporteur also calls on all Governments to conduct exhaustive and impartial investigations into all cases of alleged extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, identify those responsible and bring them to justice, grant adequate compensation to the victims or their families, and take the necessary steps to prevent further violations, in conformity with their obligation under international law.
